I took it to a guy to fix it and he told me it 100% had to be fixed and soldered back on because it controlled the remote and the fan speed as well, which seemed weird to me. Anyways I got it back from him and took a look at it.the guy just glued the seat back on and didn't actually solder anything at all. Needless to say that CC charge is getting cancelled. ![]() I took it to another guy after who is one of 3 Mac certified experts in my city (the other guy wasn't I learned but did a great job of making it seem like he was) and the mac expert said he'd look into it more as he dealt more with laptops these days than anything, but said he didn't believe the IR sensor on a mac mini did anything more than control remotes and technically you could go without it, you'd just to have make sure the wires and area that was broken wasn't sending out a charge still that could short anything. So with all this in mind, what exactly does the IR sensor for a Mac Mini do, can you go without one, and if can and do, what's a good replacement for it (to plug into USB as I've heard you can do).
